Editorial Policy

Every guide is written to be understood by someone without a legal background. Technical terms are explained in context, and a full glossary of contract law terms is available throughout the site.

Where relevant, guides reference publicly available Ontario and Canadian legislation and court processes, such as the Limitations Act, 2002, the Statute of Frauds, and the Courts of Justice Act. Content is written as general information and is not a substitute for reading the underlying legislation or obtaining legal advice.

Guides are reviewed periodically for continued accuracy, and materially updated whenever a relevant change in law or practice is identified. Each guide displays a published date and a most-recently-updated date.

Contract Law Ontario is editorially independent. It is not operated as a law firm, and content is not written to promote any specific legal service provider.
